SWC’s educational philosophy:
SWC delivers training on-the-job. SWC initially provides intensive training to a mentor/leading hand/Area Manager, etc. so they are aware of every competency and are able to closely monitor training of trainees.SWC supports the mentor structure by providing Industry Skills Council-developed written documentation, negotiating with the trainee and mentor to develop a cohesive training plan, delivering on-the-job training sessions, telephone support and one-to-one interaction during assessments.
Training sessions are delivered and assessments undertaken on-the-job. This approach allows any trainee to access detailed training across all geographical locations nominated and at suitable hours to trainees’ rosters – SWC conducts at least 5 sessions each week at 4am for workplace trainees.
Curriculum is tailored to each worksite. The learning facilities, provided by the employer, are used and practised at each worksite and supported by the ISC-developed written documentation.
SWC acknowledges that some issues will not become apparent until trainees feel comfortable as to confide these difficulties.
Training and support needs are addressed utilising various strategies, including:
There are employees in the cleaning industry who have language, literacy or numeracy difficulties. Such issues are at the forefront of SWC’s considerations.
For example, the reading level of the cleaning training materials (developed by the ISC) are aimed at 12 year old readers, closely supported by on-the-job training by mentors and SWC Assessor/Trainers. Assessment tools have been designed at a similar comprehension level.
SWC’s Complaints and Appeals Policy is detailed in the current SWC Student Information Booklet, which is located at the top of this webpage.
SWC undertake to supportively participate in external monitoring and auditing processes required by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (eg. quality audits, re-registration audits, audit following complaint, etc.).

SWC undertakes to honour all guarantees outlined in the Codes of Conduct.
